Material Handling Specialist

Job Description for Material Handling Specialist:

The role we have open is for a capable and safety-aware Material Handling Specialist to join our warehouse or logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating forklifts and other warehouse machinery to efficiently and securely transport, load, and unload materials.

Responsibilities for Material Handling Specialist:

• Operate forklifts and other industrial vehicles to move materials around the warehouse or storage yard
• Load and unload goods from trucks and other vehicles
• Stack and organize products in the correct storage locations
• Perform routine equipment checks and report any mechanical issues
• Ensure loads are secure and comply with safety standards
• Keep accurate records of inventory and shipments
• Assist with general warehouse duties as needed (picking, packing, etc.)
• Follow all safety guidelines and company procedures

Requirements for Material Handling Specialist:

• A high school diploma or an equivalent credential is the desired qualification
• Accredited forklift certification and expertise in working with sit-down, stand-up, or reach forklifts
• Having a high level of physical fitness and capable of lifting heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds
• Primary arithmetic skills and inventory management capabilities
• Diligent precision and a vigilant adherence to safety protocols
• Capacity for independent work as well as successful teamwork
• Willingness to work non-traditional hours, like weekends and evenings if the job requires it

Work Environment for Material Handling Specialist:

Forklift operators can usually be found working in warehouses, manufacturing facilities, distribution centers, or outdoor loading areas. They may face exposure to different temperature conditions and extended periods of standing or operating machinery in their daily tasks.
